Fall Recycling EventThe Newcastle Fall Recycling Collection Event will take place September 25, 2021, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hazelwood Elementary School.

Be safe: Wear masks and gloves, and pack your items so they can be removed quickly. Please refer to Public Health - Seattle & King County's Covid-19 page for information about guidelines and recommendations. 

Please provide exact change for user fees.

Only the following items will be accepted:
  • Tires: Limit 6 passenger tires per household, 18" and below, free of charge. $1.50 for extra tires off the rim. $3 for each passenger tire on rim. $9 for each large truck tire and $18 for each truck tire on rom. No oversized tires accepted. Cash only.
  • Lead Acid Batteries: Car, truck, marine, motorcycle, and sealed lead acid batteries.
  • Alkaline Batteries: AAAA, AAA, AA, A, B, C, and D cell alkaline batteries. No rechargeable, cell phone, lithium, or nicad batteries accepted.
  • Confidential Document Shredding: New item: This is a pilot project. Shredding and recycling of confidential paper materials, limit 4 file-size boxes, no exceptions. 
  • Styrofoam blocks and packing peanuts: New item: This is a pilot project. White styrofoam blocks, packing peanuts (any color). All materials must be clean and dry. No urethane foam cushions, hot tub covers, expanded polypropylene, or foam insulation. Expanded polystyrene only, (Look for the #6 or EPS inside the recycling symbol.) Please keep packing peanuts in box or bag.
  • Electronic/Computer Equipment: DVD players, VCRs, stereo equipment, printers, copiers, fax machines, scanners, cellular phones (remove personal information first) , computers and computer monitors (no charge), mouse, keyboards, tablet computers, and e-readers. 
  • Television Sets: TV sets encased in plastic, wood console, sets encased in wood, and big-screen TVs accepted (no charge).
  • Cardboard: Please flatten. No wax cardboard.
  • Propane Tanks: Residential tanks only. $5 charge, cash only.
  • Porcelain Toilets and Sinks: Toilet seats, hardware, and base wax rings must be removed. $15 charge, cash only.
  • Appliances and Scrap Metal: Household appliances, auto parts, engines, and gas lawnmowers (drained of oil and gasoline), metal lawn chairs, stoves, barbecues, iron, steel, aluminum, brass, copper, and other ferrous and nonferrous metals. $5 (cash only) will be charged for each water heater that still has insulation coating. Metals that are insulated, rubber- or oil-coated, previously or currently contain chemicals, paint, or hazardous materials will not be accepted. No light fixture ballasts or sealed drums accepted. Any item that contains gas or oil will be rejected.
  • Refrigerators/Freezers and Air Conditioners: $30 will be charged for each refrigerator or freezer. $35 will be charged for each household air conditioner. Please be prepared to pay at event entrance; cash only.
  • Mattresses/Box Springs: Any size. $15, cash only, for each mattress or box spring. Vendor reserves the right to refuse any item it cannot recycle. No wet or soiled items. No furniture or frames.

Please note:
- Household goods and clothing will not be accepted. This material can be self-hauled to local donation locations. Call first to confirm donation locations are open and accepting items.
- No flatbed or dump trucks allowed. We reserve the right to refuse oversized, commercial, contaminated, excessive, or unacceptable loads.

These household wastes:
- Household goods or clothing
- Scrap wood
- Yard debris
- Construction/demolition debris
- Garbage
- Furniture
- Plastic toys, hoses, etc.
- Window glass

... Or these hazardous wastes:
- Motor oil, filters, and antifreeze
- Oil-based paint/solvents
- Pesticides/herbicides
- Solvents and thinners
- Household chemicals

Household hazardous wastes can be taken to the hazardous waste collection site in Factoria. No latex paint is accepted. Visit www.paintcare.org/wa for more information on paint collection.

Can't make it to the event? Call 1-800-RECYCLE or visit 1800recycle.wa.gov to find authorized E-Cycle Washington collection locations. Drop off computers, computer monitors, laptops, and televisions at the Goodwill Renton Store or E-Recycle on Mercer Island. Call first to confirm hours.
