Much of Newcastle experienced a power outage overnight. According to Puget Sound Energy (PSE), our community was hit harder than most other areas in King County, with outages affecting most of the city.
PSE crews began assessing damage this morning and are focusing on transmission line repairs. At this time, there is no estimated restoration timeline available.
Most Newcastle businesses have power and are open.
SE May Creek Park Drive is closed in both directions just west of SE 129th Ave SE near Eden Church due to downed power lines. Crews are onsite, but please avoid this area.
Traffic lights are out on Coal Creek Parkway between Newcastle Way and SE May Valley Road. A reminder to treat these intersections as four-way stops.
We’ll continue to share updates as more information becomes available.
