Join the City of Newcastle this April as we celebrate Earth Month with activities focused on protecting the planet and making a difference in our community. Whether you want to clean up green spaces, explore nature, or take steps toward sustainability, there’s something for everyone.
Protect Waterways
Help keep Newcastle’s waterways clean by adopting a drain this April. If you’ve already adopted one, take time to clear it of debris and report what you find. Together, we can help turn Newcastle blue by keeping our storm drains clean and free of pollutants.
Explore Nature
Get outside and enjoy Newcastle’s trails by participating in the NEW Tulips on the Trails scavenger hunt. Join this all-ages seasonal adventure to find painted rocks on the May Creek Trail. Get started by downloading a coloring sheet or picking one up at City Hall. (Hint: Start at the trailhead at 13001 SE May Creek Park Dr. and keep right until you see Eden’s Grove neighborhood/Eden Church across the street.)
Compost Creatively
Reduce waste and inspire others by composting. Pick up a free compost bin at City Hall, decorate it, and share your creation on social media by tagging #newcastlewa.
Learn Green
Visit City staff at Healthy Kids Day on Saturday, April 18, at the Coal Creek Family YMCA. Stop by to learn fun and practical ways to go green at home and in your neighborhood.
Recycle Right
Bring hard-to-recycle items to the Spring Recycling Collection on Saturday, April 25, at Hazelwood Elementary School. It’s a great opportunity to responsibly dispose of items that cannot go in your regular recycling bin.
These activities are easy ways to make a positive impact while celebrating Earth Month together. For more information, contact Amy George, Events & Recreation Coordinator.
