Councilmember Tom Griffin

Tom Griffin settled in Newcastle long before the City was officially incorporated. He’s called this community home since November 1978, choosing Newcastle after he found the larger, newer home he was seeking. Tom was first elected to City Council in 2019 and re-elected in 2023 to serve a second four-year term.

Tom is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with experience in budgeting and all phases of accounting. He has worked in CPA firms and private industries, managing accounting departments and serving as CEO. He also taught accounting and income taxes at Renton Technical College. He keeps his CPA license current and focuses primarily on tax accounting.

In his spare time, Tom enjoys hiking and fishing, often salmon fishing the Straits or on the ocean. He lives in Hazelwood with his wife, Yvonne. Their two adult children now live in Renton and in Salt Lake City.
