The Newcastle Spring Recycling Collection Event will take place April 6, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hazelwood Elementary School. No vehicles may enter after 3:00 p.m.
Please be prepared to pay exact change (cash only) at entrance for any user fees.
Only the following items will be accepted:
- Tires: Limit 6 passenger tires per household, 18" and below, free of charge. $3 for extra tires off the rim. $6 for all passenger tires on rims. $10 for each large truck tire and $20 for each truck tire on rim. No oversized tires accepted.
- Lead Acid Batteries: Car, truck, marine, motorcycle, and sealed lead acid batteries.
- Alkaline Batteries: AAAA, AAA, AA, A, B, C, and D cell alkaline batteries. No rechargeable, cell phone, lithium-ion, or nicad batteries accepted. Visit call2recycle.org for more battery recycling options.
- Confidential Document Shredding: Shredding and recycling of confidential paper materials, limit 4 file-size boxes, no exceptions.
- Styrofoam Blocks and Packing Peanuts: White Styrofoam blocks and packing peanuts (any color). All materials must be clean and dry. Expanded polystyrene only. (Look for the #6 or EPS inside the recycling symbol.) Keep packing peanuts in box or bag. No urethane foam cushions, hot tub covers, expanded polypropylene, or foam insulation.
- Electronic/Computer Equipment: DVD players, VCRs, stereo equipment, printers, copiers, fax machines, scanners, cellular phones, computers and computer monitors, mouse, keyboards, tablet computers, and e-readers. Remove all personal information.
- Television Sets: TV sets encased in plastic or wood, wood console, and big-screen TVs accepted.
- Propane Tanks: Residential tanks only. $10 each.
- Porcelain Toilets and Sinks: Toilet seats, hardware, and base wax rings must be removed. $25 each.
- Appliances and Scrap Metal: Household appliances, auto parts, engines, gas lawnmowers (drained of oil and gasoline), metal lawn chairs, stoves, barbecues, iron, steel, aluminum, brass, copper, and other ferrous and nonferrous metals. For water heaters with insulation, $5 each. Metals that are insulated, rubber- or oil-coated, previously/currently contain chemicals, paint, or hazardous materials will not be accepted. No light fixture ballasts, or sealed drums accepted. Any item that contains gas or oil will be rejected.
- Refrigerators/Freezers and Air Conditioners: $35 each.
- Mattresses/Box Springs: Any size mattress or box spring. $35 each. Vendor reserves the right to refuse any item it cannot recycle. No furniture or frames. No wet or soiled items.
No flatbed or dump trucks allowed. We reserve the right to refuse oversized, commercial, contaminated, excessive, or unacceptable loads.

Household and hazardous wastes can be taken to the Factoria Recycling & Transfer Station, 13800 SE 32nd Street, Bellevue. Please note that latex paint is not accepted. See www.paintcare.org/wa for information on latex paint recycling.
