Councilmember Tamra Kammin

Tamra Kammin is a longtime Newcastle resident, having moved to the community before it was even a City. She and her husband, Harlan, chose to live in Olympus as they first moved to Washington in 1988 due to its small-town feel, central location and beauty. Tamra is in her first term on the Newcastle City Council, after she was elected to serve a four-year term starting in 2018.

Tamra has a BS and MS in mathematics from Iowa State University. She has extensive experience in the private sector working as an IT Director for PACCAR, Inc., Project Engineer at Corning Glass Works, and a Project Management Instructor at the University of Washington. Her extensive experience and success at managing multi-million dollar department and project budgets are strengths she brings to the City Council. She has served on the Council’s Finance Committee, Salary and Benefits Committee, and is currently the Newcastle representative to the Eastside Transportation Partnership.

Additionally, Tamra provides her expertise and support to multiple non-profits including Olive Crest Foster Care Agency, Washington Women in Need, and Social Venture Partners. In her spare time she enjoys birding, cooking, and is an avid golfer.
