Children & Families

Japanese Story Time
Thursday, November 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29, 10:15 AM
Family program, all ages welcome. Come to the meeting room for stories and songs in Japanese! This program is for Japanese speaking children and families, and for children learning Japanese.

Toddler Story Time
Monday, November 5, 12, 19 and 26, 10:15 AM and 11:30 AM
Ages 1 to 3, siblings are welcome to attend. Join us for 30 minutes of silly songs and stories! Open play time takes place right after Story Time. This program is age appropriate for toddlers. Please attend the Story Time that is the best fit for your child's developmental needs. Space is limited. First come, first served.

Play & Learn Chinese
Tuesday, November 6, 13, 20 and 27, 10:30 AM
Newborn to age 5 with caregiver. Have fun singing songs, sharing books and stories, creating art and playing. This program is conducted primarily in Chinese but the facilitator is a bilingual English/Chinese speaker.

Infant Story Time
Wednesday, November 7, 14, 21 and 28, 10:15 AM
Newborn to 12 months with adult, siblings are welcome to attend. Join us for silly songs and stories in this 30 minute lapsit program for pre-walkers! Open play time takes place right after Story Time. This program is age appropriate for babies. Please attend the Story Time that is the best fit for your child's developmental needs. Space is limited. First come, first served.

Preschool Story Time
Wednesday, November 7, 14, 21 and 28, 11:30 AM
Ages 3 to 5 with adult, siblings are welcome to attend. Join us for silly songs and stories and work on kindergarten readiness skills in this 30 minute program for preschoolers! Open play time takes place right after Story Time. While siblings are welcome to attend, families with just toddlers are encouraged to attend one of Monday's Toddler Story Times. Please attend the Story Time that is the best fit for your child's developmental needs. Space is limited, first come, first served.

Teens and Tweens

Girls Who Code Club
Monday, November 5, 19 and 26, 6:00 PM
Girls Who Code is a national nonprofit organization aiming to inspire, educate, and equip girls with computing skills they need in the 21st century. This free after-school club is for 6th - 12th grade girls to explore coding in a fun and friendly environment. Library laptops are limited. Students may bring their own laptop. Space is limited. Snacks provided by the Friends of the Newcastle Library.

Study Zone
Tuesday, November 6, 13, 20 and 27, 6:30 PM
Grades K-12. Drop in for free homework help from trained volunteer tutors.

Kerbal Space Program Club
Wednesday, November 7, 6:00 PM
Ages 10 to 17. Join fans of rockets, space travel and explosions in playing the award-winning computer game Kerbal Space Program! Use one of our laptops or bring your own if you already play. Space is limited.

Newcastle Youth for Community Engagement (NYCE)
Wednesday, November 14, 6:30 PM
Attention middle and high school students! Volunteer and join Newcastle Youth Community Engagement (NYCE) to help the Newcastle Library and the City of Newcastle create the programs, services, and events you want to see! Circulo de Lectura en Español - Newcastle
