Newcastle Youth Artists Exhibition
March 4-29 during open hours.
Newcastle Arts Council presents an art exhibition showcasing the creative talents of youth in our community.

Artists Reception
Thursday, March 7, 7-9pm
Drop by our Artists Reception to view the exhibition, meet the artists and enjoy light refreshments. Sponsored by Newcastle Arts Council and the Friends of the Newcastle Library.

All Ages

Museum Heist Escape Room
Saturday, March 9, 11:00am – 4:00pm
Ages 10 and older, ages 8 to 10 with adult. Presented by The Escape Artist. Work as a team and solve puzzles in this 10-minute escape room challenge! Limited space available. Participate in groups of five every 15 minutes between 11am-4pm. Tickets will be given out starting at 10:40am.  Sponsored by the Friends of the Newcastle Library.

Drawing Comics & Graphic Novels!
Saturday, March 23, 11am
Ages 10+, Teens and Adults. Join Newcastle author/illustrator Dana Sullivan for a fast-paced, interactive drawing and graphic novel story-telling workshop.
Limited spots. First come, first seated. In partnership with Newcastle Arts Council.

Toddler Story Time
Monday, March 4, 11, 18 and 25, 10:15 AM and 11:30 AM
Ages 1 to 3, siblings are welcome to attend. Join us for 30 minutes of silly songs and stories! Open play time takes place right after Story Time. This program is age appropriate for toddlers. Please attend the Story Time that is the best fit for your child's developmental needs. Space is limited. Tickets available day of the program.

Play & Learn Chinese
Tuesday, March 5, 12, 19 and 26, 10:30 AM
Newborn to age 5 with caregiver. Have fun singing songs, sharing books and stories, creating art and playing. This program is conducted primarily in Chinese but the facilitator is a bilingual English/Chinese speaker.

Infant Story Time
Wednesday, March 6, 13, 20 and 27, 10:15 AM
Newborn to 12 months with adult, siblings are welcome to attend. Join us for silly songs and stories in this 30 minute lapsit program for pre-walkers! Open play time takes place right after Story Time. This program is age appropriate for babies. Please attend the Story Time that is the best fit for your child's developmental needs. Space is limited. Tickets available day of the program.

Preschool Story Time
Wednesday, March 6, 13, 20 and 27, 11:30 AM
Ages 3 to 5 with adult, siblings are welcome to attend. Join us for silly songs and stories and work on kindergarten readiness skills in this 30 minute program for preschoolers! Open play time takes place right after Story Time. While siblings are welcome to attend, families with just toddlers are encouraged to attend one of Monday's Toddler Story Times. Please attend the Story Time that is the best fit for your child's developmental needs. Space is limited, first come, first served.

Japanese Story Time
Thursday, March 7, 14, 21 and 28, 10:15 AM
Family program, all ages welcome. Come to the meeting room for stories and songs in Japanese! This program is for Japanese speaking children and families, and for children learning Japanese.

Study Zone
Tuesday, March 5, 12, 19 and 26, 6:30 PM
Grades K-12. Drop in for free homework help from trained volunteer tutors.

Girls Who Code Club
Monday, March 4, 11 and 25, 6:00 PM
Girls in grades 6-12. Girls Who Code is a national nonprofit organization aiming to inspire, educate, and equip girls with computing skills they need in the 21st century. This free after-school club is for girls to explore coding in a fun and friendly environment. Library laptops are limited. Students may bring their own laptop. Space is limited. Snacks provided by the Friends of the Newcastle Library.

Kerbal Space Program Club
Wednesday, March 6, 6:00 PM
Ages 10 to 17. Join fans of rockets, space travel and explosions in playing the award-winning computer game Kerbal Space Program! Use one of the library's laptops or bring your own if you already play. Space is limited.

Newcastle Youth for Community Engagement (NYCE)
Wednesday, March 20, 6:30 PM
Attention middle and high school students! Volunteer and join Newcastle Youth Community Engagement (NYCE) to help the Newcastle Library and the City of Newcastle create the programs, services and events you want to see! Munch on snacks while you make a difference at the monthly meetings! Sponsored by the Friends of the Newcastle Library and the City of Newcastle.
