Get Involved: Planning Commission Vacancy
Posted on 08/12/2019

Want a voice in how traffic and shopping affect Newcastle families?

The Newcastle Planning Commission is the starting point for City policies affecting where you shop, what can be built in your neighborhood and how you get around on foot or by car. And YOU can be part of the action. Applications are now being accepted for an upcoming vacancy on the Commission.

The Commission is made up of Newcastle residents who advise the City Council on long-range plans, and zoning and development codes. Commissioners also work with City staff on other projects approved by the City Council.

Members are volunteers appointed by the Mayor and serve a four-year term. The Commission meets at City Hall at 6 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of each month. Applicants must be 18 years of age, and must reside within the city or its potential annexation areas.

Interested persons should submit an application, letter of interest and resume to the City Clerk’s office by Friday, Sept. 6, 2019. Email all materials to City Clerk Sara McMillon at saram@newcastlewa.gov or mail them to Newcastle City Hall, 12835 Newcastle Way, Suite 200, Newcastle WA 98056
