Get Involved: Community Activities Commission Vacancy
Posted on 08/12/2019

You can have a voice in the planning for City events, volunteer activities and improvements to our parks and trails.

The Newcastle City Council is seeking an enthusiastic resident to join the all-volunteer board responsible for advising the City on summer events, historical and artistic programs, and improvements to parks and trails. The Community Activities Commission has a vacancy for a citizen that wants to have fun while giving back to the community and is passionate about creating experiences and spaces that enhance the quality of life for people living in Newcastle.

Commissioners are an important part of making Newcastle unique due to their involvement in projects that improve the city’s extensive trail system, create awareness of Newcastle’s historical and cultural heritage, and provide opportunities for people to volunteer. The Commission is made up of seven residents who make events like Newcastle Days possible. Members are volunteers appointed by the Mayor and serve a four-year term. The Commission meets at City Hall at 7 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month. Applicants must be 18 years of age, and must reside within the city or its potential annexation areas.

Interested persons should submit an application, letter of interest and resume to the City Clerk’s office by Friday, Sept. 6, 2019. Email all materials to City Clerk Sara McMillon at saram@newcastlewa.gov or mail them to Newcastle City Hall, 12835 Newcastle Way, Suite 200, Newcastle WA 98056
