Volunteering is a great way to have fun, give back, and learn more about your community. The City of Newcastle recognizes the importance of volunteerism and the significant role it plays in providing a richer quality of life for the Newcastle community. Newcastle has volunteer opportunities available for groups and individuals of diverse talents, ages, and interests.

As the summer season approaches, we’re looking for plenty of volunteers to help ensure our community events run smoothly! Explore the current volunteer needs below and contact Community Activities Commissioner Patti Magers at to get involved!

Newcastle Days (Sept. 6-7) is going to be bigger and better than ever as we celebrate the City's 25th anniversary! We still need lots of volunteers to make this community celebration spectacular.

- Setup and Tear Down (3 volunteers needed): We need a few volunteers to help set up the vendor booth tables and chairs between 8-11 a.m. on Sept. 6 (1 volunteer needed). We’ll also need help stacking tables and chairs at the end of the day on Sept. 7 (2 volunteers needed).

Parade Staging (1 volunteer needed): Help parade participants find positions and assist with parade logistics, as needed, on Saturday, Sept. 7 from about 9:30-10:30 a.m.

- Tennis Court Games (6 volunteers needed): Help facilitate the new free carnival type games that will be held on the tennis courts. Volunteers will work in pairs to manage the lines and ensure everyone gets a chance to play the games. One shift on Sept. 7 (3-5 p.m.).

- Craft Events (4 volunteers needed): Help manage the Newcastle Days arts and craft activities. (Two shifts: 1-3 p.m. or 3-5 p.m.)

- Sidewalk Art Walk (2 volunteers needed): Help artists of all ages with creativity on the sidewalk. Two shifts (11-1 p.m., 1-3 p.m.).

Newcastle Days volunteers will receive a special festival event staff T-shirt!
