Hi Newcastle Neighbors! As Fourth of July approaches, we've been getting a few inquiries regarding our annual celebration. Now's a good time to remind you that back in April, we announced the difficult decision to cancel the fireworks show this year due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

“This was not an easy decision to make. We recognize that our summer events are essential to the spirit of community that defines Newcastle. It’s disappointing that we cannot come together to celebrate in-person this year, but we must protect the community and do everything we can to mitigate the risks associated with COVID-19,” said City Manager Rob Wyman.

Newcastle's annual Fourth of July fireworks show is canceled, but that doesn't mean your neighbors want you to re-create it in your front yard. Police Chief Jason Houck wants to remind you that fireworks are banned in the City of Newcastle, and unlawful discharge can result in hefty fines and even jail time. Chief Houck and our Officers LOVE you guys. But they REALLLLY don't want to show up as uninvited guests to your Fourth of July party this year. Call 206-296-3311 to report illegal fireworks activity.

COVID-19 forced the cancellation of our beloved fireworks show, so instead, we're asking neighborhoods to decorate their sidewalks and driveways with chalk fireworks to celebrate Independence Day this year. Learn more at newcastlewa.gov/chalknewcastle.
